Great headsetJun 13, 2010 The headset is easy to connect easy to charge and the sound is is great. The volume controls are easy to reach and adjust. Its nice it comes with an extra battery in case you want to watch a lot of tv because the battery only lasts for a few hours before you have to recharge it.
This solved two problems for usMay 18, 2010 We purchased this because the 50ish people in our household need the TV volume louder than the 20somethings. It solved that problem, and also allows any of us to watch TV with the sound turned off when others are sleeping. The one drawback is that you must stay in line-of-sight with the base. That means you can't go to another room, even if it is close by, or turn more than 90 degrees away. Otherwise, the sound quality is very good, and being able to adjust the volume on the headset itself is a great advantage. It came with a variety of different cables and connectors, and we tried it out on two different TVs; on one we plugged it directly into the cable box, and the other (which has no cable box) required changes to the sound setup using the on-screen menus. Both setups were quite simple.
Don't have to listen to Moms TV anymore!May 10, 2010 Whoever invented these things - God Bless them! We are taking care of my parents now and having multiple tvs in the house can be annoying. My Dad (who watches his own tv) already had a pair, but my mother (who also watches her own tv) did not. We got her a pair and they have worked out perfect. She loves the sound quality and says they are very comfortable.
Not impressed, could not use it.Apr 13, 2010 The product is for people with mild to possibly intermediate hearing loss. If you have intermediate to profound loss, it is not for you. My father with profound hearing loss could not hear anything in these airphones. I, with no hearing loss at all, could listen to it at a full volume up to the max, although it was very loud.
The earbuds are not comfortable. I don't think I could wear this set for a longer time. The little "fine tuning" dials at the back of the device do not do anything noticeable.
Cannot comment on the battery life - did not have a chance to check.
Positive comments: except for the earbuds, an overall nicely designed unit. Also, can connect to a variety of appliances like a TV, PC/laptop, radio, stereo, telephone. Does not require a rocket scientist to hook it up. Spare battery a definite plus. One more surprising advantage. According to the description, the headset piece is supposed to be located in front of the base and be "visible," b/c of the infra-red technology. In my experiments it appeared that the headset piece worked just fine even outside direct visibility from the base, for example, at a far side of the base or even behind it, as long as is it nearby (up to 10 feet) and there is no physical obstacle between the base and the headset.
Finally, there is a good responsive customer service. Clarity is produced by the division of Plantronics, which seems to care about customers. My questions and concerns about the product were addressed and they did not give me any hard time.
Pacemaker WarningFeb 24, 2010 Bought this device a couple of weeks ago for my hard-of- hearing father before he drove us all out of the house with the TV volume. Seems to work very well for him and was easy to set up with his new Bravia TV. Was not too happy when we opened package and found the pacemaker warning. The next day he called the pacemaker manufacturer and was told that it would not interfere and he was safe using. HOWEVER my father had his pacemaker replaced a couple of months ago so would advise anyone with pacemaker to call first before using or returning the product. Otherwise very satisfied with the product and the quiet in the house.
